From August this year we aim to start issuing contactless credit cards to customers when their current card expires. Any customers whose card expires at a later date will be able to get a contactless card using online banking.
Apple Pay is also now avalible for our Debit Card customers.

All I'd like is internet banking that works when it's supposed to and genuine feedback when it doesn't. Try and make your existing systems work properly before expanding into others.

Still feels weird that Apple Pay came before contactless credit cards ?
Looking forward to Apple Pay on debit cards!! -

Hi . I have received my new credit card today and it runs out in 2019 . Are you saying I have to wait until then before I can get contactless ?
-
14-04-16, 18:20Jamie_FairlieRe: Contactless and Apple Pay
Going by the original post, it sounds like you can apply for a contactless card using your online banking account once contactless credit cards become available in August :)

15-04-16, 14:55chrisbRe: Contactless and Apple Pay
Couldn't believe that my new card arrived today and didn't have contactless, I thought that there must have been some mistake until I found this link ! What a poor service Tesco Bank is providing to its customers. Also if Tesco Bank is this far behind on basic card technology it makes you wonder about its other systems ? Seems counter productive and wasteful (new card expires 2019) but will be requesting a contactless card in a few months.

It's great to see contactless is coming. Will Android Pay also be supported in that timeframe?
-
23-05-16, 09:22JamieJRe: Contactless and Apple Pay
Hi , no plans for Android Pay at this time I'm afraid - see this thread on the topic to add your voice.

24-06-16, 10:25HelenNRe: Contactless and Apple Pay
I have just received my new credit card today and it runs out in 2019. As I don't use online banking with my credit card does this mean I will have wait until 2019 until I can get a contactless card. If so this is appalling and like others I will be looking at getting a different credit card
-
24-06-16, 10:31Jamie_FairlieRe: Contactless and Apple Pay
I don't see how that can be considered 'appalling' ... It seems more like a 'mild inconvenience'. Also, there are ways to get a replacement card if you want one. If you chose not to use online banking, that's down to you.
Also, if you requested a new card over the phone (after August), I'd be surprised if they didn't start sending out contactless cards by default.

13-07-16, 09:50MeAtHomeRe: Contactless and Apple Pay
I notice that the payment terminals at all my local Tesco's have now been updated to support cardless. But I'm still waiting for my new contactless Tesco Credit Card..... sometimes resort to using my contactless Barclaycard instead. Hurry up Tescobank! Any chance of pulling the August date forward? And is that 1st Aug or 31st Aug?

01-08-16, 18:22RobolovskyRe: Contactless and Apple Pay
I received my new Tesco credit card today (1st August) and was astounded to find that it is still not contactless. I do agree with everyone who has said that this seems very much behind the times for a large organisation like Tesco. Hopefully when the contactless cards become available (this month apparently) I will be able to change. In the meantime I am using a different card for contactless payments and have been doing for some time.

01-08-16, 21:07lmartinRe: Contactless and Apple Pay
Are we any closer to Apple Pay on Current Accounts yet? It is now over a year since it launched and months after you offered it to Credit Card customers - yet your Current Account service isn't keeping up!? Why can't you give any more of a guide on timings other than 'sometime this year'. Are we talking next few weeks? Couple more months? December? Or will it actually not happen this year?
Communicating something more meaningful to customers won't do any harm at all! -
04-08-16, 13:53martin2345ukRe: Contactless and Apple Pay
Well we're now in August... can we request contactless credit cards yet and join the rest of the banks in 2016?? :)
-
08-08-16, 20:40JPSRe: Contactless and Apple Pay
Dear Tesco Its now the 8th August and I have just received my replacement credit card which was due to expire in September only to be disappointed not to receive a contactless card! Your news item clearly stated you would be sending out new cards in August, but no such luck! Please can you let me know how to change my card for a new contactless card as I do not wish to wait until 2019 when my new card expires. Fingers crossed for a positive response!

09-08-16, 10:34martin2345ukRe: Contactless and Apple Pay
It's ridiculous that they're still sending out non-contactless cards! C'mon Tesco, give a concrete answer - someone in the company clearly knows when we'll get contactless...!
-
11-08-16, 23:18NutsAndBoltzRe: Contactless and Apple Pay
So how do I order a contactless credit card through internet banking now. Is it by going though the normal 'Get a replacement card' option? Thanks
-
19-08-16, 15:03CentreBobbyRe: Contactless and Apple Pay
OK - so just recieved my shiny new Tesco Credit Card and it's not contactless, not only that, I've just found out that I can't use Android Pay either...! This is especially confusing as my local Tesco has contactless terminals which they encourage customers to use... So what's going on? 1. When will I be able to exchange my pointless peice of plastic for a contactless Card? 2. In the top five European markets (U.K., France, Germany, Italy, and Spain), Android’s market share increased to 75.6 percent, up 7.1 percent compared to the same period a year ago. SO WHY DO WE NOT HAVE ANDROID - THE MOST POPULAR MOBILE OS IN THE UK BY QUITE SOME DISTANCE..!! I look forward to your respose...thanks

22-08-16, 13:01PawPawRe: Contactless and Apple Pay
Its a joke that when paying for goods in a Tesco store the staff ask if you have contactless yet Tesco Bank does not offer the service . Have been waiting for months but still Tesco say little and do even less . Evey Little certainly does not help ........not keeping customers informed shows a lack of respect and proves loyalty to Tesco means nothing anymore.

Finally got my contactless Tesco Credit Card!! About time eh! :)

30-08-16, 19:55DuncanLRe: Contactless and Apple Pay
Having requested a new card specifically to get the new contactless card; it has arrived and is not contactless. After speaking to customer services it seems that anyone on "old" products (in my case a Finest credit card, which apparently isn't offered any more) are not part of the upgrade. They may or may not get round to old produts after doing the current ones - there's no information available. Very annoying.

I’m happy to announce that all of our Credit Cards* issued from now will have contactless capability. Outside of renewal, replacements can be requested via Online Banking. Log-in and go to Manage your account and you will see an option for Get a replacement card.
@DuncanLthere are no plans to make the other cards contactless I'm afraid.
*Not Business, Irish or Visa Credit Cards. -

Still no sign of Apple Pay for current accounts :( poor

06-09-16, 08:16brittas11Re: Contactless and Apple Pay
So if I now request a replacement card it will be contactless? I don't want to mess about getting a replacement (my current card is only a few months old) and it turn up not contactless. For reference, it's a Mastercard Creditcard. Thanks.

Yes the replacement will be contactless :smileyvery-happy:

06-09-16, 13:49TarianRe: Contactless and Apple Pay
You did not say that Contactless would be forced on Customers. Today I was sent a new card with contactless. It "replaced" a card with 2 years left to run. I have just been told that non-contactless option is no longer available.Yet most other banks give customers a choice.[#Note: I see that Business Customers can still have non-contactless .....] It's really frustrating that a few people fall for the latest whizzy "upgrade" without thinking of the downside - encouraging the banks to impose a less secure payments system on everyone else. 1) Do people really want several unauthorised debits of up to £29.99 before any security check is made? 2) What do Insurance companies say about "leaving your door unlocked"? How is a contactless card different? 3) Do people think that remote-cloning of cards is far-fetched? (see some YouTube videos) 4) When the banks say "frauds will be refunded", do people think that the 30 minutes (probably more) of cross-examination is worth all of those savings of 2-3 seconds to enter a PIN? 5) Do people mind if the "wrong" card (account) is debited - possibly leading to overdraft charges ? see next:> 6) Every day Transport for London warns passengers to "avoid card-clash" by separating their Oyster (travel) card from their contactless bank card. So clearly contactless has issues ! Personally I want peace of mind that all payments have been consciously authorised - and no possibility of the wrong card being debited. So now the Tesco card will stay at home with my one other contactless card.[ Eventually I might see if I can disable the card's "aerial". But that's for another day ....]

I have a Tesco Finest World Mastercard, can this be a contactless card as well?
-
15-09-16, 09:52ScottWRe: Contactless and Apple Pay
Hi @Phil
You can indeed get a contactless card! You can order a replacement online via your online banking and a new card will be with you within 5 - 7 days :) -
16-09-16, 20:37bluntgRe: Contactless and Apple Pay
My replacement "Tesco Finest World Mastercard" arrived this month and it is still not contactless... I only use it as a back up now to my AmEx since the Clubcard points were slashed but it's still rather inconvenient.

11-10-16, 21:26lmartinRe: Contactless and Apple Pay
More than 6 months has passed since this thread started and there's still no news on Apple Pay for Current Account customers. What's going on? Apple Pay launched in July 2015 and soon after you said you were looking to support it in early 2016. Not long now until the year is up - is it still coming this year?
-
19-10-16, 10:06sw61Re: Contactless and Apple Pay
Like Tarian, I'm extremely disappointed in Tesco for forcing contactless cards on everyone. NatWest and Nationwide offer the option of a non-contactless option, why can't you? I don't want contactless, it offers only disadvantages to me and no benefits that I'm interested in. It appears I have 2 options - take the contactless card that I don't want or close my Tesco credit card account

27-11-16, 20:37lmartinRe: Contactless and Apple Pay
Another couple of months passes. Still no Apple Pay for Current Account customers. April this year:-We also intend to offer Apple Pay to our Debit Card customers later this year and we’ll provide further information as soon as we can. What's the latest?

Anyone intend to reply to this thread?

12-12-16, 08:27NickJRe: Contactless and Apple Pay
We are working to introduce Apple Pay for debit cards, but unfortunately this isn’t now going to take place until next year. By the volume of comments and discussion I appreciate that this will be disappointing news but I will continue to keep you updated here in the Community. As soon as we are able to confirm a launch date, then I will let you know.
-
12-12-16, 08:32TraceATRe: Contactless and Apple Pay
That is very disappointing to hear. I've decided that an account with an alternative bank is now the better choice than waiting.
-
23-12-16, 12:16stuartcummingsRe: Contactless and Apple Pay
How about using this great new Curve Card instead. You can associate it with any of your existing cards and it's contactless. So if you map your Tesco Credit Card to it you instantly get a contactless card. You can change which card it's associated with using an app on your phone, so you only need to carry the one card and it can be anything you want it to be. Good afternoon Tesco Bank, I fully appreciate it's been asked several times by other members of The Community but do you have any form of update in relation to Apple Pay and Visa Debit cards? Thank you.
-
10-04-17, 09:37RossMRe: Contactless and Apple Pay
Hi @chaddman30, I'm afraid I still don't have a confirmed date for Apple Pay on our current account product. However, I will let the members of our community know as soon as I have any update for you.

Thanks Ross. Like using Apple Pay/PayQwiq with my Tesco Bank MasterCard so look forward to being able to use those services with my Tesco Bank Visa Debit card too.
