It's rather ridiculous that Tesco Bank do not support Google Pay. I've had my Tesco Credit Card for many, many years and been a loyal customer. It's poor that your bank discriminates against the mobile phone platform the majority use. Is it a deal Tesco Mobile has with Apple? Well, I think I'm off. I don't want to be involved in any way with a company that puts commercial interests over their customers (well more than you do already)

Hi , thanks for your message. At the moment, we don't have plans to support Google Pay. I can also confirm that we don't have a deal with Apple. However, I can completely understand your frustration over this and I will feed this back to the relevant team. I'm sorry for any disappointment this causes.

Crazy! As the cashless society develops apace (in part due to the Covid epidemic) it is extremely disappointing that Tesco bank is not compatible with Google Pay. KEEP UP WITH THE TIMES TESCO!

Hi I'm not an Android user, but Tesco don't support Apple Pay either, except for payment in it's stores and petrol stations. The Tesco Pay+ app is pretty neat, and it is also supported on Google Play, but again just like Apple users, it's only acepted for use in it's stores and petrol stations. It's pretty useful, because it collects your Clubcard points at the same time.If this is any good for you, then here's the link to install it on your Android phone.https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...yqwiq&hl=en_GBBest Wishes,

First Direct, Halifax, HSBC, John Lewis, Lloyds, M&S, Nationwide, Nat West, Santander, Coop, TSB, Yorkshire banks all work with Apple Pay and Google Pay. Tesco needs to follow suit or risk losing customers

A post on the TescoBank website back in July 2017 saying they don't support Google Pay. How can 3 years have passed and they still haven't jumped on board with being cross platform friendly. I won't be continuing with TescoBank once my 0% Purchases are up! https://www.tescobank.com/guides/ban...0Google%20Pay).

Hi
I absolutely understand your frustration, and count myself rather fortunate to have an Apple iPhone.
I know that’s of no consequence nor consolation to yourself, but if you don’t want to use a card then this mobile payment app works brilliantly.
It’s my first ever smartphone (65 yrs old) picked up on eBay in June for just £85 like new !

What makes it even more annoying is the continued refusal by Tesco to explain themselves. Why won't you support Google Pay? You support Apple Pay, so this makes about as much sense as only accepting Mastercard but not Visa. Please don't try to fob us off with "it's a business decision" - you're a business so everything that you do or don't do is a "business decision". Us mere customers just can't understand your logic, so please just explain it to us. Is that really so hard?

You hide behind "this is a business decision". Well it's a poor one that is costing you business.
I used to use my Tesco card for almost all transactions.
I now use my Amex, via Google Pay for over 70% of transactions.
The only place my Tesco card is now my first choice of payment is in Tesco stores. Anywhere else, I don't have to fish wallet out and find card, I just pull my phone out and pay. -

Hi @Jodonnell70
I can appreciate your frustrations with using the Tesco card.
You have got into a routine and it is obviously so much easier for you to pay with your phone and Google Pay.
I'm sure Tesco Bank will take your comments into account and feed them back to the relevent department.
Warm regards, Caz @25H -

Hi @Jodonnell70
The Tesco Pay+ app is very good, it's supported on Google Play for payment in Tesco stores and petrol stations.
It's pretty useful, because it collects your Clubcard points at the same time.
I appreciate this does not solve the problem elsewhere, but saves you time scanning cards at Tesco.
If this is helpful to you, here's the link to install it on your Android phone.

Very disappointed to find Tesco does not support Google Pay. They obviously see it as a rival. If you don't sort yourselves out I'll be looking at an alternative card provider. Used to be with Nationwide, have noticed they do support Google pay, so I might be going back.

Just switched from Apple to Android and amazed to find the credit card i use for EVERYTHING is not accepted on Google Pay, like so many other disappointed customers. I use the card so much I remember all the details for buying online so will now be switching to one of my other cards. TTFN TescoBank

Best thing is Sainsbury's Bank works with Google Pay but Tesco is unwilling to to look into doing anything with Google Pay
-

Installed Google Pay for the first time today as I didn't have my wallet and just to add to the sentiments of previous posts I was really disappointed to see Tesco Bank doesn't support this. The simple fact is that the days of going round with a wallet or purse stuffed full of cards is fast disappearing. Tesco has really made a mistake here as I have now added a competitors credit card and will use that from now for convenience. Come on Tesco you have lots of loyal customers who like collecting points but this is an error that's costing you those customers and their money everyday.

Just to add a further voice (please don't bother cutting and pasting the usual 'Thanks for taking the time to provide your feedback @Branoc . I'll certainly record your comments and pass them across to the relevant team.' again - it's meaningless and actually worse than just not responding at all) I do find it extraordinary that you do not support google pay for your credit cards, when you support Apple Pay. It's extraordinary because mid pandemic you should be encouraging customers to engage in contactless payment as much as possible. It's also extraordinary because it's so backwards! This is 2021 - people expect to be able to pay with their phones/watches regardless of operating system.
As it happens having recently moved I'm closer to a Sainsburys than a Tesco. We spend £6K a year on groceries and about £18K a year on the card elsewhere. Sainsburys' card does do Google pay and as silly as it sounds, it's enough for us to switch card and groceries supplier. I know £24K is a tiny drop in the ocean to the Tesco bohemoth but I suspect I'm not alone. -

+another 1 to add to the already bulging list of current customers reeling in disappointment and even shock that Tesco Bank does not support the use of Google Pay.
We use the Tesco Credit Card for practically every purchase we make as a family so totals up to £3000 a month, or at least we did!
Using the card also gently pushes me towards using Tesco for all food and fuel shopping, if I change to a Sainsbury's card I have no doubt I will naturally move to their food and fuel. Multiply this across your customer base who are naturally moving more and more to electronic payment systems and just consider for a minute the customer base you are losing, not potentially losing but absolutely are losing.
The usual 'Thanks for taking the time to provide your feedback' response will result in the same condensation as felt by all who have received it so don't bother.
A response explaining the factors affect Tesco's business decision would be most enlightening, and an understanding of what needs to change for this decision to be reversed.
Until then Tesco will be losing custom in more than 1 of it's businesses. -

Same sentiments here. Can't understand why Tesco can't join the rest of the banking community and understand that loads of people have android phones. Wake up and stop the lame repetitive comments.

Hi @CathEdge
I'm relatively new to smartphones, with very limited experience of Android phones.
My first ever smartphone was a Sony Xperia for my 64th birthday last year.
Try as i may i just couldn't get on with it, so i swapped it for an Apple iPhone 6s and wow !
12 months on and i can scarcely believe that i'm now using mobile banking with touch id.
I know it doesn't deal with your issue, but Apple Pay is very good and i use it everywhere.
In much the same way that i suspect you enjoy using Google Pay on your phone.
To be honest though, i only ever use Tesco Pay + app at Tesco stores and petrol stations.
This is available for you to download from Google Play onto your Android phone.
That's what i would recommend.
Tesco Pay + Google Play

#CSKBRambles thanks for the unsolicited promo for Apple products. This is not the place!! I have my reasons for not having an Apple device. I have been using the Pay+ app since it came out. This is not point. The Pay+ app is limited to use in Tesco stores. I don't have blind loyalty to any brand and also shop elsewhere. Being able to use Google pay with the Tesco credit card would be much more convenient and refusing to permit this is a stupid oversight by Tesco.

Why are Tesco Bank Credit Cards still not allowed on Google Pay ?
With the recent announcement that the chancellor is going to increase contactless payments to £100.00 surely this is another reason why Tesco Bank Credit cards could be linked to Google Pay. In this age of technologically advanced smart phones surely having to carry credit cards and cash are a thing of the past.
Is Tesco missing the plot ?

Yet another disappointed Tesco credit card user, set up Google Pay on my Android device only to find Tesco Bank doesn't support it - very disappointed, no doubt you'll pass on my feedback - don't bother to reply I've read all the others useless copy and paste replies.
And no I DO NOT want an Apple iPhone, and no I DO NOT want the Tesco Pay app, I actually do use my credit card elsewhere!
As others have said, I'll simply switch to a different card with a company that's in the 21st century! -
12-03-21, 10:30jbhamra
It's quite telling when you go to the Sainsbury's bank website that on their main page they advertise that they are compatible with Google Pay.
I don't often shop at Tesco so kept this card as my back up card for when Amex is not accepted. But given I have started shopping more at Sainsbury's and the fact the Tesco user experience has always been quite poor, it's time for me to ditch this card and opt for Sains as my secondary one! -
28-03-21, 13:17MikeN
Another user that finds it ridiculous and discriminatory that Tesco Credit card is supported on Apple but not on Android (Google Pay). All my other cards are supported so I have started to use those now when out and about. The only time I now use my Tesco card is in store. The Pay+ app is fine but you can't use it away from a Tesco store or petrol station. I used to use my Tesco card for every purchase but as it is not available on Google Pay I have now swapped to another provider ( like countless others it seems). Come on Tesco - get with the times and add this facility - NOW!
-
27-04-21, 07:42Tescho
And another one. Stopped using my Tesco credit card as soon as I started using Google Pay. The fact Tesco favours Apple really sends the wrong message. Discriminating against a large portion of your customers is not a good look.

I'm now at the point where this is becoming an annoyance.
with covid were being told to pay contactlessly as much as possible.
The lack of support for the long running Android pay is just stupid.
Tesco are to busy trying to push it's pay plus app.
I'm now shopping for another bank and will be switching as soon as I have done my energy providers the bank is next.

The only feasible and semi-convenient solution is to use Curve as an intermediary card. Perhaps surprisingly, Barclays Bank also doesn't support Google Pay (although they do support Apple Pay). In order to enable contactless payments with these banks, I've registered the relevant cards in the Curve app and then add Curve's own card into Google Pay. Although a bit convoluted it works like a charm.

Utterly ridiculous... Tesco unbelievable that you don't support google pay... 48.25% use android in the UK... Tesco payment app is 💩 and useless... I'm using nationwide credit card on my android phone... See ya tesco
