Large purchase declined

I recently tried to pay online for a holiday costing £1700 with my Tesco Clubcard/Creditcard. The transaction was declined with no reason given. My credit limit has been £3000 for many years. I have been a Tesco Bank customer for several years and always pay the outstanding monthly card bill (usually £100-£200) in full by direct debit. Is there any maximum amount - within the stated limit - which can be paid on a Tesco credit card, above which the transaction will be declined without reason?

@Jimstony Hey there, thanks for getting in touch!

I'm sorry to hear about this. There is no maximum amount, provided you are within your credit limit. You can read more about this and the reasons why we may decline a payment here.

    However, if you
send a private message, we'll check to see if there is anything preventing you from using the card online.

If there are no blocks or restrictions, it could also be a problem with 3D secure which is the system used to verify the card for online purchases. If this is the case, you'll need to
    call us to resolve this.
