Registration emails recognised as spam

Quick bit of feedback for your techies behind the scenes. When I tried to registered on this site, I never received the registration email. I asked for it to be resent, it didn't arrive. Checking my mail server logs, all of your emails are being rejected as the sending domain does not exist.
You are sending emails using the email domain "@yourcommunityemail.tescobank.com" - this does not exist and therefore most email servers are going to reject it. If you're going to send emails, ensure they are from an email domain otherwise they are simply going to be rejected all the time and you will be swamped with registration problems.
    Thanks, Ben

Thanks - glad you persevered though! :smileytongue:

I will definitely pass this on to the "techies behind the scenes".

This is fairly standard when registering for new things though isn't it? You often have to check SPAM filters.

Perhaps adding in a reminder to do this as part of the registration process may help.

I'm only saying this as I'm not sure how easy it will be to change the domain for these emails, but I will ask!

To clarify, these emails didn't go into my junk/spam folder, they were rejected and never delivered. There are emails that we "think" are spam, these go to the junk folder. There are emails that we know to be spam, these get immediately rejected at source. An easy way of identifying known spam is by checking if the sending address is valid, in the case of yourcommunityemail.tescobank.com it is not valid. It's literally impossible for anybody here to receive registration emails from The Community, they will never see them. I only got mine as I run the email system and turned the spam filter off momentarily so I could receive the emails. It should be very simply for your techies to fix. Either send the email from a valid domain, like "@community.tescobank.com" or add "yourcommunityemail.tescobank.com" to your DNS entries. I can't receive any email notifications from the forums until this is done, they will all be spam filtered.
FYI - I run the email system at a global bank, this is a pretty standard spam filtering technique so many of your customers are going to be affected by this.

I never received my registration email, despite several attempts. They aren't in my spam folder. I had to try a different email address (gmail), which worked OK.

I notice that Tesco haven't bothered doing anything about this after 2 months

Hi, thanks for raising this again.

I did enquire about fixing this issue, but I will dust off the whip and chase down those IT folks. :robotmad:

Can I just confirm that you are talking about the following email address: noreply @ yourcommunitymail.tescobank.com address?

I too had the same problem this morning, I registered with an aol email address and it was NOT receiving emails from you. I changed my address to yahoo and now I get my emails.

Sorry to hear that but glad you got it sorted.

I can say that I am actively pursuing a solution to this issue - it has taken longer than expected but the end is in sight...

Thanks to everyone who has raised this to our attention.
