I have been 'approved in principle' for a loan and they have asked for a recent one month bank statement, I'm just wondering why they want it.. What do they look at?... Is it just for proof of identity or address, or is there more to it?

Hi 

There can be a few reasons we would ask for a recent bank statement. In some cases, as you say, it can be to confirm the address on your application.

Otherwise, we would ask for a statement to check details of your income and expenditure before going ahead with a final decision about the application. It's nothing to worry about and it's something we do ask for so we can make the most informed decision possible.

Okay, I see thank you for your reply.

I have not yet sent my statement as I am waiting for the paperwork to arrive and then I will send the statement with the paperwork. They sent it out Thursday last week.
