Car insurance cancellation fees question

My policy expires at the end of the month and I'm only going to need to be insured on it for another month or so after that.

If I pay by direct debit and I was to cancel before the 2nd monthly direct debit was due would I just be required to pay a cancellation fee of £40 or would I have to pay back the interest amount of the credit agreement for paying in installments (approx £30) as well? Or is it just the proportion of the interest I will have paid in the first payment that I will lose.

    Thanks
    Matt

@mattHTAFC Hey there, thanks for getting in touch!

If you cancel after the 14 day-cooling off period expires, you'll be charged for each day you've used pro-rata, and a £40 cancellation fee.

We will cancel the direct debit once the cancellation is confirmed. If you'd paid for more insurance than you'd used by the date of the cancellation the difference would be deducted from the cancellation fee and vice-versa.

I hope this clarifies things for you.
