Hi, can someone explain to me how I only pay the purchase part of the credit card balance? I currently have a 0% balance transfer of which I still have many months to pay off. However, it seems the money I'm paying in is paying for both and not clearing my purchase balance first. So I'm incurring interest. If someone can help I would highly appreciate it.

@Ander Hey there, thanks for getting in touch!

When making payments towards the account the payments will be allocated towards the balance that is accruing the most interest first.

To avoid paying interest on your Purchase balance, it will need to be paid in full (and on time) each month. If either of these conditions aren't met, then interest would apply.

Hi, unfortunately that doesn't help much as that would mean the money I put in would go first to the purchases but that hasn't been the case. I paid enough as well which is why I'm rather perplexed 🤔

@Ander In that case, please call the Credit Card team so they can take a closer look through your account.

You can reach them on 0345 300 4278 (Mon - Fri: 8am to 9pm, Sat - Sun: 8am - 6pm) and they'll be happy to help.

To speak to one of my colleagues, please choose option 2 and enter your security details, then press 0. If you don't have any details to hand, just press 0 and you will then be passed through.
