Why was I charged a late fee on my CC when my DD is to pay in full?

I cleared the balance down to zero on 03 December 2024.
I was charged interest on 20 December 2024.
I was charged a late fee on 15 January 2025.
I tried to clear the balance back to zero on 19 January, but it would only let me pay the interest from December.
I now have another interest charge from 21 January 2025.

The problem is, after I cleared my balance down to zero on 03 December, I changed my DD to pay in full each month.

So why have I been charged a late fee that I can't pay and why is my account refusing to zero off?

It sounds like a manual payment was required when you made a change to your direct debit instruction.
