New Card Issued (repeatedly)

For the last few months, my Card has been re-issued every few weeks. Phoning Support suggests that this is down to a data-leak from ‘a merchant’. Each time it happens, I spend around an hour changing all my online payment details. And then it happens again. And again. Support can’t give me details other than ‘a merchant’. Which means they must have a lot of leaks. Surely this isn’t how it should work? I’ve had a Credit Card for over 40 years, including this one for over 10, and this isn’t normal. Please suggest a solution, as all I’ve got at the moment is ‘give up and close the account’.

Hey @StreakyG, thanks for getting in touch😀.

I'm sorry you are having an issue with your card being reissued every few weeks.

This happens when we have been made aware either by a third party or as part of our own internal checks, that your Credit Card details may have been compromised. This security measure is in place to protect the account from potential fraud.

Unfortunately, because this is a security measure there is no way to stop this from occurring if there is any potential threat to your account.

Thank you for your response. So this ‘compromise’ is happening every month, yet you can’t tell me the source of the issue? Which makes using this card ridiculous as I have to update every single online account every 3-4 weeks and, as happened yesterday, a payment was declined on Amazon as the old card is now invalid and I’m yet to receive a new one. Time to find a new card sadly; I liked using the points in Prezzo.
