Late fee charge

    Hi there, I have been charged a late fee but I had set up a direct debit about a month ago and when I noticed that it still hadn’t came out I also made a payment of (minimum £71) I have the text from my bank confirming this. I assumed the payment was made and now I have received a late payment charge, I have made a minimum payment again today, I am concerned that my direct debit is not set up correctly and also concerned that I made a payment of £71 that does not seem to have gone through.
    I was in America and not sure if something happened with my phone at the time of doing this but when I got a confirmation text from my bank I didn’t think anything else of it. Please can someone come back to me about this.

    Sorry to hear this has happened. A new Direct Debit won't start collecting until the next month's payment so it's likely that when you set it up last month your statement had already printed and was still requiring one final manual payment before the direct debit kicked in.

    If you send us a Private Message, we can check that the Direct Debit will collect going forward.
