Payments made after Statement date

    Hi,
Can I make payments between the date my credit card statement is issued and the date the direct debit is due to be collected, and if I do will it reduce the amount of direct debit taken.

I'm sure previously I have paid the whole amount off soon after statement date and on direct debit date no money was taken.

But recently I did that (maybe too close to direct debit date) and it still took the direct debit.

    Thanks

    Jim

@jojim Hey Jim, thanks for getting in touch.

You can make payments at any time to reduce your balance. However, only payments made during your statement period—from the day your statement is produced to your due date—will count toward your required statement balance payment period.

To avoid a late payment fee, you must make at least the minimum payment during your statement period.

If you have a Minimum or Fixed Amount Direct Debit, it will always collect the amount shown on your statement—even if you’ve made an additional manual payment. The only exception is if your account balance is zero at the time of collection.

If you have a Full Statement Direct Debit and make an additional manual payment before the Direct Debit is collected, it will adjust to collect the new (reduced) balance. Again, it won’t collect anything if your balance is zero.

Please note: Direct Debits begin processing 3 business days before the scheduled collection date. Any manual payments or changes made during this period will not take effect until the next collection cycle.

    I hope this helps. 😊
