Tesco Banking App not Compatible with Galaxy S8?

  • ScarlettTurkey's Avatar
So despite the fact that my devices is using the most current version of Android on the S8+ when I go to download the app I get "Your Device isn't compatable with this version". This is only made more frustrating by the fact that the Galaxy S8 is used in the promotional images on the app page? Any ideas when this will be fixed? I've attached images for reference.

Hi , thanks for getting in touch. Currently our app won't run on larger phones, like the S7+ and S8+. We're looking into this though and we'll let you know when there's an update.

Hi there , I have the same issue and have been advised it's not compatible, yet it's on your list of compatible devices ?? Why is it there if its not usable - most disappointing !

Not only is not compatable but as I mentioned in my post - The S8 is used in the promotional images for the app - how ridiculous!

If you still haven't gotten around to adding support for the S7+ I don't really have much hope this is going to be sorted anytime soon. I hope your teams realise that no additional changes to the app is needed as all the scaling is done on the device itself.

Hi all, thought I'd get back in touch with an update about Samsung support. The app does work on the Galaxy S8 and S8+ and we've tested it again this morning in our office. There can be a few reasons for the incompatibility option coming up, and I'll list some of the troubleshooting we'd recommend to get it up and running on your phone.

Here's the tips our App team have put together:

Clear the cache on the Play Store
    • Clear cache data for Google Play Store app & Google Play Services (Go to Settings > Apps or Application Manager > Google Play Services > Clear cache > OK).
    • Uninstall updates for the Play Store app Play Store (Go to Settings > Apps or Application Manager > Google Play Store > Uninstall updates > OK).
    • Uninstall updates for Google Play Services (Go to Settings > Apps or Application Manager > Google Play Services > Uninstall updates > OK).
    • Restart your device.
    • Remove Google Account:
    • Open your device's Settings app.
    • Under "Accounts," touch Google and then the account you want to remove.
    • Touch the Menu icon in the top right corner of the screen.
    • Touch Remove account.
    • Add Google Account:
    • Open your device's Settings app.
    • Under "Accounts," touch Add account > Google.
    • Follow the instructions to add your account.
You can also try logging in to your Play Store via the desktop site, we've had a customer report that this worked for them. Making sure your screen size is set to the default can also help with any compatibility issues.

? Most people wanting to download this app should not have go through all these steps just to get it working on a modern phone. I still use my nationwide app and had no trouble installing it. As a large company you really should not expect your customers to do this

Hi , the majority of customers will be able to download the app without having to use the aforementioned steps and we've only had a small amount of customers reporting the issue that these steps will fix.

It's worth remembering that many banking apps won't install if your phone has one of these security vulnerabilities:- (1) Your phone is rooted OR(2) You are running a Custom ROM OR(3) You have installed apps that create mock GPS locations, i.e. you can appear to be at any location you desire instead of your true geographical location. I would guess this would be true of the Tesco app, too. Can anyone confirm?
