First time payment in online savers account.

    Hi,I have recently set up an online saving account and upon trying to move money into it for the first time, it is saying that a Direct Debit instruction needs to be set up. Is there anything I need to do for this or will all of the necessary information be sent out to me?Thanks,Matt

    Hi , welcome to the community.

    We don't set up Direct Debits on any of our savings accounts following an application. However, we ask for bank account details for additional checks to make sure that the details that you've provided are correct.

    You are able to set a standing order up with your own bank using your Tesco Bank Internet Saver account details.

    WRONG !The first thing Tesco did for my Internet Saver was to set up a Direct Debit on my linked account with Nationwide !Still waiting for the welcome letter 8 days later.....The option to pay in via DD is already there on the account, but as you have not managed to verify my identity as I have not had any post from you, I cannot use it yet.However, as you gave me the Sort Code and Account Number in the online application, I have paid money in by Faster Payment, but cannot get it out, very annoying and quite frankly rubbish service.

    Hi , this is correct as we don’t have an option for funding the account via Direct Debit during the application. Funding methods would be set up upon acceptance. I'm sorry that you are having issues. We do need to complete some additional checks following an application and if you send a message with your full name, DOB, and postcode I can check the current status as you should've received these documents by now.

    For details like your DOB and postcode we ask for you to format it with additional spaces, i.e. A B 1 2 C D and 2 4 1 0 2 0 1 6, otherwise the information is removed by the system.
