Technical Browers and Cookies

Hello I like to clear my browers cookies regulary. However this brings the anoying problem of some online banks including Tesco Bank, not reconising your device and having to go through a security procedure every time you login. Is there anyway getting round this eg setting an exceptions for trusted sites like Tesco bank, so when cookies are cleared from your device, the trusted sites cookies are not deleted, but all others are. Currently running windows 7 and using the latest stable release of Firefox. I have looked online and seen long winded ways of listing all the sites that have stored cookies you select which ones to delete, however this has to be done every time. Can you set up an exception list? thank youiain Thanksiain

Hi Iain, you will receive a message on screen advising your computer is unrecognised from time to time and this is due to the cookies being cleared from your web browser; this is how we recognise a customer’s device. Normally when this message pops up you should be able to continue your log in by requesting a One Time Access Code to your mobile phone or landline, is this the process you're currently following? Whereby a text is sent to re-recognise the device?

There's no way on our end to change this process as it's part of our security to keep our customer accounts safe. You may be able to individually clear cookies and exclude Tesco, although this isn't something we can advise on as it's browser specific. You can also use the Tesco Bank app for your online banking to alleviate this issue as you won't be prompted for One Time Access Codes on there. I hope that helps and apologies if it's not the answer you were hoping for - Michelle
