I thought the new cheque clearing system was meant to be better I posted a cheque from Scottish power on Monday it went into my bank on the Friday and now I have to wait till Monday for it to clear this is no different waiting time from when you could put your cheque in over the counter I would of thought if was a cheque from a company it would of been cleared straight away like other banks do

The cheque imaging process you refer to can certainly expedite the time taken to clear a cheque, however this will depend on whether or not the other bank is also using the new cheque imaging process. Absolutely agree, I posted mine last Friday and its only just shown up in the account!!! Waste of time and energy trying to contact Tesco as the cheques are now put through a clearing company called IPSL or such like!!!
