Faster payments scheme

    Just looking
There are only a limited number of direct participants in the faster payments scheme.

Tesco isn't a direct member and so the payment has to flow through another sponsor bank who is a direct member to get to it's destination.

If the recipient is also an indirect member then this will also add a delay at the other end.

Indirect members all connect to their sponsor member in different ways. Most will send the data to the sponsor bank almost real time but some may only send batches of payments every hour as an example.

It's clear in the case of Tesco Bank there is a small delay for the payment to be sent through the sponsor bank.

And whilst Tesco Bank control their own maintenance window, this may be different to the maintenance window of the sponsor bank and so there may also be delays to payments outside of the times Tesco Bank quotes.
