Standing Order set up problem

    I have on numerious occasions attempted to set up a standing order with my bank. It will not recognise the sort code or account number for Tesco Bank - taken from this website. I have called your help line a number of times and was told that you do not recognise my bank using the numbers on the website?? - it is a major UK bank - I was then asked to try an alternative sort code/account number but it still doesnt work. This was a number of months ago and quite frankly I gave up. Today I thought I would try again........... Nope, still nothing?? Any suggestions you may wish to give as to how I can set this up?

    Hi , I'm sorry to hear that you're having issues with this. So I can look into how we can help you, please send a private message and In the message explaining your situation, include your name, date of birth and postcode.

    For details like your DOB and postcode we ask for you to format it with additional spaces, i.e. A B 1 2 C D and 2 4 1 0 2 0 1 6, otherwise the information is removed by the system.

    You have asked me for my name, DOB and postcode, for what reason? I am constantly being told by financial companies never to disclose personal imformation, yet this is exactly what you are asking for - regardless if its a private message.... I do not see the relevence in gleaning this information for the question asked. I feel you have sufficient information to answer a simple question....... Why does my major high street bank not recognise the sort code nor account number when attempting to set up a SO......

    My colleague has asked for these details to allow us to check the account to make sure that there were no issues from our side, I'm sorry if you felt this was inappropriate.     Regarding the issue you're having setting up your standing order; there are a few banks which have not yet updated the details are held for Tesco Bank faster payments, however we have had confirmation that the sort code and account number are correct.


    If you are still having problems with your bank adding this as a standing order, you should be able to manually add the details to set up a payment (often referred to as “Set up a new payee”) by entering the new sort code and account number.
